WEDNESDAY, JULY 9

WEDNESDAY, JULY 9:

Because we extended our stay here, we needed to move to another site, in another loop.  It’s electric only, but it’s only for 3 nights, so we’ll be fine with our own water.  It’s another wonderful large, private site – actually even better than the first since we’re much further from the office and recreation activities, so far less foot & bicycle traffic going by.  So less for Pappy to bark at.
So we moved first thing.  Bill did most of that while I took advantage of our last morning of being close to the showers up in the office.  Then we enjoyed breakfast outside under the warming sun.
Bill was still a little worn out from our hike yesterday, and preferred to just relax around the campsite & take it easy the rest of the morning.  So it was a good time for me to do laundry.  Did 3 loads, which took at least a couple of hours, and I was able to load a Blog entry and check some other things on-line.  Now that we’re in a site away from the office, we have zero internet access there.  Bill used the time to level the RV a little more, read, & play banjo.
Now I felt a little tired after I got home, and so just relaxed outside in my Jonathan chair.  We’d talked earlier about taking the kayaks down to Upper Lake in the afternoon.  But now a pretty good wind had come up, so scrapped that idea.  Instead, we hopped on the bikes (non-recumbent ones) and started out on the closest paved bike path to our campsite.  Saw a sign pointing to Wedge Pond 2 km (about 1.3 mi) ahead.  Piece of cake, we thought.  Until we were reminded that we’re biking in mountain terrain!  But we did better than the other day – only had to get off and push one time up a steep hill.  Dare we think that we’re getting in shape this quickly??
We were  rewarded for our exertion by a wonderful view of the “pond.”

Lovely wildflowers, too.
Coming back really was a piece of cake, almost.  Mostly downhill where it wasn’t level.  Fun!
Had pot pies for dinner (purchased at the camp store this morning).  Not gourmet, but satisfied our appetites.  We thought it a little too windy for a campfire tonight, so I decided it’d be a good time to walk up to the office and load another blog entry or two.  As I type this, waiting for pictures to load, I’m sitting outside of the office on a picnic table, surrounded by fresh mountain air & breeze.  Best of two worlds!
