FRIDAY,
JULY 11:
Our last
day here. I went up to the as soon as I
got ready and used WiFi in the early morning stillness and cool. Then fixed a nice breakfast of stuffed French
toast and bacon. Will surely be nice
when we can get some fresh fruit again!
Ate outside in the warming sun.
Most of
the rest of the day was spent in pure relaxation outside in the sunshine –
reading, dozing. Repeat. Four times.
Took a short walk around the campground before dinner.
Fixed
grilled cheese sandwiches and some leftovers for dinner. Couldn’t face another meal of hot dogs 2 days
in a row. Then started a campfire again,
using the remaining wood we had.
About
10:00, after the fire burned out, we took another little walk. Lots of campfires. We’ll miss the smell of wood smoke. (Our next
campground in Banff doesn’t allow fires.) The surrounding mountains, including the
campground’s namesake, Mt. Kidd, were lovely in the last light of day.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here, and will miss this place – a true hidden gem of the Canadian Rockies! (at least for us Americans) .So glad our Canadian friends turned us onto it! Tomorrow onward to Banff, for 5 nights, and then to Jasper for a week or so.
